The most important aspect of maintenance is chimney sweeping but there are other factors to consider regularly.
- Is the grate in good condition and riddling easily?
- Are the seals intact? If you close the door over a piece of paper you shouldn’t be able to pull the paper out.
- Is the fire rope correctly attached without any fraying?
- Is the finish good and free from rust?
- Is the glass free from cracks and tar deposits?
